The Faculty Events Marketing Manager leads the strategy and planning for Cengage's Higher Education (HED) faculty event portfolio. This role develops event and context experiences that provide meaningful value to faculty while strengthening the Cengage brand, generating demand for our learning solutions, and supporting customer engagement and adoption. Working closely with Faculty Marketing, Product Marketing, Sales, content experts, and other cross-functional partners, the manager shapes event themes, audience strategy, messaging, and programming to align with business priorities and faculty needs. This role partners with the Event Execution team and external vendors to translate event strategy into a cohesive experience, providing strategic direction while execution teams manage logistics and on-site delivery.
What you’ll do here:
Develop and own the faculty events strategy across hosted events, sponsored events, trade shows, field events, virtual events, and customer engagement programs.
Create event concepts, themes, and content that address faculty challenges while supporting demand generation, customer engagement, and product adoption.
Define event objectives, audience strategy, messaging, and programming to deliver value for attendees and measurable marketing outcomes.
Partner with Faculty Marketing, Product Marketing, Sales, Product Management, and executive stakeholders to develop event content, identify speakers, and integrate product storytelling into programming.
Evaluate and recommend event investments based on audience fit, strategic priorities, and expected business impact.
Establish success metrics and measure performance across engagement, lead quality, pipeline contribution, customer adoption, attendee satisfaction, and ROI.
Analyze event and campaign performance to identify insights and continuously improve future programming and investment decisions.
Partner with the Event Execution team and external vendors to ensure event strategies are executed effectively and consistently, delivering seamless onsite experiences.
Partner with Marketing Operations and Sales to support lead capture, post-event nurture, follow-up and pipeline attribution.
Manage event budgets and investment priorities to maximize business impact.
Skills you'll need here
Experience developing event marketing strategies that deliver audience value and business results.
Strong understanding of B2B marketing, demand generation, customer engagement, and the role events play across the marketing funnel.
Ability to translate audience insights into compelling event themes, content, and programming.
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience coaching executive, internal, and external speakers to deliver engaging, audience-centered content.
Experience measuring marketing performance using event engagement, lead quality, pipeline influence, return on investment, and customer insights.
Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, budgets, timelines, and stakeholders.
Analytical mindset with the ability to use data and insights to improve marketing performance.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Typically requires 5+ years of experience in event marketing, field marketing, demand generation, integrated marketing, or a related discipline.
Ability to travel approximately 30%, with increased travel during peak event seasons.

The midpoint of the salary range for this position is $87,000. We may offer higher compensation (up to $90,000+) for candidates with extensive, relevant experience and a strong, proven skill set.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
In this position, you will be eligible to participate in the company’s discretionary incentive bonus program. This position's bonus target amount, which is not guaranteed and is dependent on individual performance and overall company results among other factors, is provided below.
